Daniel's letter didn't ask Ethan to take revenge. It asked him to protect Margaret, find Rosa, and remember that honest work mattered more than any company name.

Maya rested a hand on the car roof. "And he tried to leave a trail. We're going to make that trail count."

Ortiz interviewed Tessa, collected the original cassette, and secured a court order for Richard's company records. A forensic analyst began comparing dates and payment trails.

Richard was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy and witness intimidation tied to Margaret's removal. His attorneys secured a hearing, insisting the transport had been a misguided effort to protect a confused patient.

Ethan watched her face collapse. The wedding license had never been filed. The ceremony had been interrupted before they exchanged vows. Legally, they had never married.

Later that night, Claire visited Owen at Richard's estate. She wanted him out before investigators searched the house.

Owen opened the door with a bruised cheek.

"What happened?" Claire asked.

"Dad's security man. He wanted my phone."
