Daniel found us in the parking garage.

Rachel stepped between us.

"Two minutes," I said.

"This is everything I kept from my mother."

I didn't take it.

"Why now?"

"Because she still thinks she can win. She thinks the judge only got emotional because of the recording. She wants to attack your character again in the divorce."

"And you suddenly grew a conscience?"

His eyes filled. "No. I think I finally saw what I became."

"What's on it?"

"Voice memos. Emails. A recording from her office."

"Of what?"

He looked toward the elevators as if expecting Margaret to appear.

"The first time she explained the plan."

I took the drive.

Maya reviewed it before I listened.

The most important file was eleven minutes long.

Margaret and Daniel were arguing.

Daniel: You can't just make her look crazy.

Margaret: I'm not making anything. I'm documenting what she gives us.

Daniel: You said to push her until she reacts.

Margaret: Because people show who they are under pressure.

Daniel: And if she doesn't react?

I stared at the screen.
